Wishbone/rear axle removal

Wishbones are handlebars arranged transverse to the direction of travel, which guide the wheel carrier in a vertical direction and transfer the forces between the wheel and the vehicle body. The upward and downward movements of the wheels are largely compensated for by the springs and shock absorbers. The wishbones have a similar task during lateral movements. The positions of the wheels are also influenced by the wishbone.

Step by step – from removal to installation

1. The press frame is supported on the longitudinal strut to form the necessary contact surface

2. Then the matching pressure sleeve is positioned. It must fit precisely on the steel element of the bearing, not on the rubber element

3. The bushing is pressed out of the carrier using the pressure side of a hydraulic cylinder

4. In order to professionally install the new bearing, the appropriate receiving adapter for pressure sleeves is placed on the steel element of the new bearing. Then the press frame is supported on the bearing and the appropriate pressure sleeve is inserted. The new bearing can then be effortlessly pressed in
