The DigAlert™ 361 (D361) models of the Nautilus test telephone range offer the same essential features that every telephone technician needs as the D350 models; super high impedance monitoring of the line so as to pose as little risk as possible to parallel data services plus protection and warning of conditions such as high voltage and excess current. Plus you have DigAlert that will warn of the presence of “out-of-band” signals such as digital services such as ADSL right through to the current VDSL2 services. Add to that “loudspeaker listening” capability and you have our most popular and versatile model of telephone buttset. Plus the D361 models include “full hands-free” loud-speaking telephony.
There are also two specialist models: One which has an additional circuit to detect metering pulses at 12 kHz that are still in limited use in some markets. The other includes a DigAlert detector circuit with wider bandwidth that is required for some customers who operate VDSL with a starting frequency somewhat higher than standard (> 150 kHz). Includes 3-year warranty.
Tempo's Nautilus range of extremely tough and weatherproof test telephones has been trusted by major global telephone companies since 1999. Built to withstand years of use literally "in the field", constructed from a super-tough polymer alloy and sealed with resilient and long life silicone seals. The range are available with Bell (north American) and ETSI (European and associated markets) settings. Various models are available within each telephony settings region with and without loud-speaking or full-hands-free and with and without DigAlert advanced "Digital Services Protection" lockout features. All models are equipped with overvoltage and overcurrent warning and lockout and all require a 9V battery for operation.
Digital Services Protection – In the “on hook” mode, on connection to a circuit, the Test Telephone sounds an alarm to alert the user to the presence of voltages above 75V to 80V DC. Such voltages are normally present on circuits carrying digital services. If the circuit is active, the user can select the high impedance MONITOR mode and listen to the sound to determine if the circuit is carrying digital services without disrupting the traffic. This is present in all models and can be overridden if the extended voltage is expected. If the unit detects a voltage above 120 V DC, this sounds a different alarm and cannot be overridden as this is definitely not a POTS line.
The DigAlert™ Digital Services Detection and Lockout feature present in D350 and D361 models adds another layer of protection for digital services carried on telephony twisted pairs. Detecting "out-of-band" signals and preventing immediate "off-hook" this helps ensure that users of digital services are disrupted as little as possible during maintenance works. Effectively preventing the old practice of "tag running" and helping to ensure technicians only go "off-hook" when they need to. The high impedance monitor and polarity test, plus built-in xDSL blocking filter help to minimize in service errors that may occur to the DSL service.
