About Tool Central Racing
The Beginning of Tool Central Racing
Tool Central Racing was established in April 2024 when Mektronics CEO Mark turned a lifelong dream into reality — purchasing a Porsche GT3 Cup Car with the ambition of owning and racing a Porsche at a competitive level.
To ensure the team was built on strong foundations, Mark appointed Scott from Tool Central to manage the race team, allowing him to remain focused on leading the business while the motorsport program developed professionally.
Although Mark’s original plan was to drive the car himself, he quickly recognised that achieving true competitiveness would require a dedicated driver. With a vision to support emerging talent, he set out to find a young driver who could grow with the team.
A chance conversation with one of our trusted suppliers about motorsport soon evolved into something more. That discussion led to an introduction to a promising young driver — someone Mark believed had both the talent and the character to deliver results on track.
Enter Jake Donaldson...
Jake Donaldson was offered the opportunity to test with Tool Central Racing at Sydney Motorsport Park — and immediately proved he was the right choice. Jake’s racing resumé already spoke volumes:
- 2× Australian Junior Speedway Kart Champion
- NSW & Queensland State Champion
- Junior Super Series Champion
- Progressed to Australian Formula Ford, earning two Hard Charger Awards and multiple race wins
After stepping away from racing for three years, this opportunity marked a powerful return to the sport. Jake’s debut weekend in the Porsche was nothing short of extraordinary — securing Pole Position and three race wins at the Sydney Motor Race Championships in the Production Sports category. Since that first weekend, Jake has continued to deliver exceptional results, achieving:
- Queensland Enduro Championship Winner (April 2025)
- Sydney Motorsport Park 2nd for the Round (September 2025)
- Bathurst Challenge Fastest in Group (November 2025)
- Bathurst 12 Hour Round Winner (February 2026)
LOOKING AHEAD
Tool Central Racing is still in its formative years, but the foundations are strong. With a commitment to performance, professionalism, and developing talent, the team aims to continue growing and, in the coming years, potentially expand into additional racing categories. This is just the beginning of the journey.
