What makes Fluke Multimeters the Industry Leader

20 August 2021

If you’ve done any kind of electronics work then you’ve probably heard of Fluke and their famous multimeters. The Fluke brand casts its shadow far and wide over the rest of the industry by making some of the highest quality electronics tools in the world. Their reputation as the best is seriously daunting but it can make someone wonder why they are so famous and what makes Fluke Multimeters the leader in the industry for multimeters.

First we probably need to define what makes a good multimeter. This question is actually pretty simple, you need a couple of key things to know you have a solid multimeter. (1) Highly accurate readings for voltage, current, resistance and continuity, (2) user friendly interface and readouts (3) durable design and construction, and (4) excellent safety standards.

Fluke seriously blows all of these criteria out of the water, which make them truly the best in the industry. Let’s take a look at what makes Fluke so good in a little more detail.

Rigid Quality and Accuracy Standards

The main purpose of a multimeter is to help measure electrical output and provide accurate readings for troubleshooting and correcting issues in electronic equipment. This is the first place that Fluke really made a name for itself by providing multimeters that have been rigorously tested for quality and reliability, to ensure that users are consistently getting the right readings out of their devices.

There are three important aspects of correct measurement: accuracy (which is how close the measurements are to the real value), precision (how close the measurements of the same value are to each other) and resolution (how detailed the readings are on your meter). Fluke has world class accuracy, precision and resolution, making them some of the most effective multimeters on the market if you want to get your readings right every single time.

User friendly interface and readouts

Fluke has been around for a long time, not just making multimeters but consistently making multimeters that stand head and shoulders above the competition. This means that they’ve had decades of feedback from consumers and experts on what works and what doesn’t. When this experience is combined with continuous design testing and innovation you get an interface that is simple, easy to use and highly accurate for the end user.

Durable Design & Construction

Fluke multimeters are made to be robust and durable, with a seriously long life expectancy. This not only means that it can take some serious punishment but also withstand the majority of unforeseen circumstances. Unlike many other multimeters, Fluke is able to withstand falls, water, dust as well as resist some pretty powerful shocks from electricity spikes. Most importantly, however, is that it doesn’t tend to lose its accuracy over time. Fluke has invested heavily in creating multimeters that maintain their calibration, meaning that whether you’ve just bought it or are approaching the end of a decade the multimeter should still be very accurate by comparison to other models.

Excellent Safety Standards

Finally, we’ve got the famous Fluke safety standards. When you are working with electricity the most important thing you have to consider is your own personal protection against accidents. Electricity is no joke and neither are the safety standards built into the Fluke multimeter. Fluke multimeters are designed with isolation circuitry and an exceptional fuse, which means that they can be used safely even during high voltage operations (so long as the manufacturer’s instructions are followed). They also have excellent explosion avoidance, which means that they won’t blow up in your hand the way that cheaper tools might.
